Frequently asked questions

How do I find my ring size? I don't know my UK ring size?

The best way to calculate your ring size is to go to a High Street Jewellers and request a ring sizing service. Try on a ring of a similar width and profile as the one you wish to order.

See our Sizing and Care page on our website for more information: https://www.justind.co.uk/sizing

We can confirm that the ring sizing chart on wikipedia is accurate:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_size#cite_note-5

Can a ring be resized?

Yes most of our rings can be resized. If you need your ring resizing please return it with the details of the new measurements and return address. There will be a charge of £40 to cover the cost of postage and the work involved.

UK customers: If the ring is a surprise for someone and you don't know their size you are welcome to get in touch with us and we can send you one of our sample rings in a random size and then swap this for the right size ring when you know it thus avoiding the resize charge.

Please see our Sizing and Care page on our website for more information: https://www.justind.co.uk/sizing

Do you offer a guarantee?

The craftsmanship of our work made in precious metals is guaranteed for life.

If there are any issues with items inlaid with wood within the first five years of ownership, we’ll repair it free of charge. After the five year period is up, there will be a £25 fee for the refurbishment of the wood.

Can I return my ring?

In most cases, if you are unsure of your purchase we are happy to send you a sample ring and sizers so you’re able to check the dimensions and size needed before we go ahead and make the item. We prefer to work with you to ensure that the ring will be suitable and therefore not returned. We reserve the right to exclude items from the thirty-day refund policy, and will always contact you prior to their manufacture if this is the case.
If you are dissatisfied with your purchase you may return it to us in its original unworn condition (trying for size accepted) within thirty days immediately after the signed receipt date. When we have received the item(s) we will offer you a full refund by the original payment method.

Can I swap my ring for a different size?

Because all of our rings and pieces are handmade to the size ordered, we cannot offer exchanges for different ring sizes. We will also not refund if it is evident that more than one ring was purchased with the express intention of choosing between them and returning one for a refund. As all our rings are handmade to the size you order you cannot swap a sized ring for a different size without paying the resize charge.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We send all of our pieces in fully recyclable packaging;
Each piece comes in its own Justin Duance jewellery box. Our rings are always packed in a rustic cardboard box for delivery, complete with a postcard, teak oil and a care pack as appropriate.
At the moment we don't offer gift wrapping although our current packaging can be used as such.

Do you use real diamonds and gemstones?

All of the diamonds and gemstones we use are real and ethically sourced - they can be traced right back to their mine of origin.

All our diamonds above 2mm come with a certificate of origin. Diamond that are 4.5mm and above come with a GIA certificate too.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch about using different size and quality stones in our pieces.

Does using my own sand cost an additional fee?

No, your jewellery being cast in your own sand adds nothing but sentimentality.

We only need a handful or two of sand, in a sealed container with clear note of your name and where the sand has come from :) You can either pop it in the post to us or drop it in to the workshop (just give us a call first so we are expecting you!).

How do you pronounce 'Duance'?

Good question.
'Dew - unce' like nuance :)

How much does the type of sand used affect the texture of a sandcast ring?

The level of texture on a sandcast ring can never be completely predicted. Generally, very fine sands will produce a lighter texture, and very coarse sands will produce a more textured ring. We recommend staying away from very pebbly or rounded grains of sand. These tend to create little divots in the pieces cast in them rather than resulting in a sandy, organic texture. We will let you know if we are concerned that your sand or the sand you’ve chosen for casting will create an unusual result. If there is a particular texture you would like to achieve on your ring just send us a picture of the piece that has the texture you like – we will attach this to your order for our reference and do our best to nudge it in that direction.
